Mufti Day Waterslide Fun

Last Wednesday it was raining. It was mufty day and room 5 and 4 went to the waterslide. It was wet and slippery but lots of fun.

School Camp

We had so much fun on camp. The highlights included the fitness circuit at the motor camp, mini golf, delicious lasagne, sleeping in the Muritai Centre, fun at Rabbit Island and playing soccer against the adults.

Athletic Sports

It was Athletic Sports on Wednesday. My favourite activity was the sprints because I came 4th place. Pad-Thai liked the vortex throw. The parents won the relay. Tatahi came first on the day.

Apples from ENZA

ENZA gave us some apples on Thursday. We gave out the apples to the whole school on Friday. I gave the apples to room 12. They were crunchy and juicy.

The Sand Dunes

Yesterday room 5 went to the to the beach.We had to wait for a while because John who is from the museum was a bit late.When he arrived we got going we went on the beach and John told us about sand dunes. We saw the grids where the water washes down if the tide is too rough or high. The grasses protect the dunes. The beach has changed a lot over the years.

Homework Task

For homework we had to design a pattern for a panel of the edging for the school gardens. On Friday afternoon Ms Newland and the Green Ninjas helped us with the painting of the panels. They are really bright and colourful.

Walk to School Day

On Walk to School Day 92% of the students were active in coming to school. A great result with three classes being rewarded for full participation , sadly not room 5 this time!

Siapo

Yesterday we made siapo which is Samoan art. We used brown, red, orange, white and black crayon on brown paper bags. Then we covered it in reddy orange dye.Mrs Pearson helped us do it.

Hairy Herb Heads

Last week we made these cans called Hairy Herb Heads. First we got a can and Margaret drilled  a hole in the bottom of it and we just put some little stones inside the can.Then we choose a colour of paint and we painted our colour on the outside of the can.When it dried we painted a face on and waited until that dried.When it was dry we put googly eyes on.Then Mrs T put some dirt in the cans and some seeds. We will be watching their hair grow!!

Science Experimentst

The egg is soaking in vinegar for three days. We wonder what is going to happen.
Yesterday we put some baking soda in a balloon and vinegar in a bottle. Then we put the balloon over the bottle and all the baking soda went in. Then I had to hold on to the bottle while the balloon went up. It filled up with gas.

Calendar Art

On Wednesday room 5 did their calendar art.Josh did a beach scene with tiny rocks on the beach and a little black boat.Some people did a sunset and some did pet shops but I did a flower in a vase with a butterfly. After that we had to chose a sketching pencil or a black crayon. I chose a sketching pencil because it looked better. Then you had to outline the picture to make it look cool.

Fun Run

This morning the whole school went to the beach to do the fun run. There were four activities to do. My favourite activity was when I had to lift my buddy over a pretend river.It was fun even though Ra won the day.
